Mission statement

Intro

Nova’s mission is to be the source for rapid delivery of world class data center facilities. With its streamlined performance and data center specialization, Nova is continuously dedicated to simplifying the delivery and improving the bottom line for its clients.

Nova Corp began in the construction management industry in 1926. Since then, Nova has provided its many clients with a highly unique level of customer service, built upon an unparalleled amount of entrepreneurial spirit and through accepting nothing less then total client satisfaction.

Among Nova’s track record in construction management, its exclusive focus on building data centers and mission critical facilities has yielded the following performance credentials:

  • Nova has Designed, Built and Commissioned over 6 Million Square Feet of data centers in the past 8 years.
  • Proven experience with every aspect of the project: data center conceptual design, equipment procurement, construction management, expansion and consolidation.
  • The distinctive ability to rapidly commit to and deliver the design recommendations, budgeting and project planning we provide.
  • Over 90% of Nova’s business is from its existing customer base.

A large concern of our customers is to ensure that their facilities provide a properly designed and scaled infrastructure to meet the requirements of their information technology and communications systems, in a timely manner. One of the biggest values Nova Corp has to offer is brought to bear when our customers engage us for Construction Management services combined with our engineering input. Combining these services allows Nova to coordinate site evaluation, design, fit-out, and migration and to ensure bottom lines are meet or improved upon.  In doing so, Nova eliminates wasted time and money spent to make these pieces fit together afterwards.  Nova manages the entire lifecycle of the project, providing a turnkey solution through a single point of contact.

In addition to construction management, Nova works closely with many of its current clients as their site assessment and market assessment consultant. Nova provides its clients the in-depth expertise required for not only understanding existing site infrastructure and the systems required to support their future growth, but also the schedule and budget impacts presented by implementing client requirements in an existing space. Nova then goes one step further, by providing design options, budgeting and schedule solutions to carry out the necessary modifications, all of which Nova fully commits to. These tools allow our customers to make informed and confident decisions, while staying on top of the market.

Nova’s key relationships and vast history with its vendors, including MGE, Liebert, Cummins, Caterpillar, Trane and Siemens, among others, are leveraged for rapid project development and critical equipment procurement planning. Nova also maintains many key relationships with local data center facility property management and brokerage groups.

When meeting the budget and delivery schedule is paramount, Nova is dedicated to meet or exceed the mark every time. Our continuous level of repeat business is proof of our achievement of that goal.

Security

Nova has incorporated state of the art security systems within all of our data center projects. Our consortium relationships with firms such as Seimens, and ALC amongst others, allows the highest level of security systems to be integrated into the data systems development /design process.

The further integration of the design of these security systems incorporates the architectural and civil aspects of a project. Nova incorporates the use of the highest standards of ballistic doors and windows as well as mantraps, and fail-safe entry systems that support our customers SLA’s.

Finally the integration of these security systems is tied into the most advanced systems of “building management” systems, to allow the client to have a single location for managing all of these systems within their control center.

Reliability

Nova has incorporated the most State of the Art components that define reliability for our clients. This includes the utilization of the most advanced electrical, mechanical and building control systems manufactured by the Worlds leading component forms.

Incorporating the specifications of these components is one of the key formulas that Nova uses in the development of the conceptual and ultimate design of a project our staff has continuously worked with these world -class manufacturing firms such as Sneider, Leibert, Trane, Cummins, and Seimens.

Due to the continued and long-term relationships maintained between Nova and these firms our staff is able to calculate the desired criteria and the critical delivery path necessary to incorporate these critical components into a data center. The sum of this effort yields an increased reliability factor the client.

The Environmental Challenges Data Centers Face

Data centers are energy-intensive enterprises. Not only do they require massive amounts of power for the servers themselves, but they also require extensive mechanical systems to maintain cooling levels and prevent downtime from overheating. Data centers consume close to 10% of the United States’ total power supply, and they sometimes have a negative environmental impact on the local area.

Data centers affect the environment in three main ways:

  • Inefficient Cooling: Because they typically comprise a thousand or more hot servers, data centers demand immense cooling systems that devour energy and expel hot air. An inefficient cooling system can mean unnecessary energy costs and wasteful emissions.
  • Inefficient Electrical Distribution: Inefficient electrical design for a facility using 10 or 30 Megawatts of total power load can magnify into bloated energy costs and unnecessary pollution.
  • Impact on Local Area: Data centers can generate waste, such as black or brown water from their mechanical cooling systems. Releasing such waste into the environment can impair the equilibrium of the local ecosystem.

In recent years, the data center industry and NOVA have come to recognize that even a 10% increase in efficiency can lower a client’s energy bills significantly, and also improve the health of the planet. NOVA’s expertise can help clients who wish to reap future energy savings and lessen their environmental footprint.
